Pinhole attached to a dove
Ca. 15 Min flight and exposure, unique piece
In the work “Doo” Djourina attaches a pinhole camera to a trained dove and documented the bird’s flight as abstract analog photograph.
The very concrete approach of creating aerial photographs of a bird can no longer be understood in the actual exposure, but remains as a narrative. The black, central circle with its soft contour raises many associations and symbolises something archaic in itself.
The origin and narrative behind the photography leads the abstraction back into an everyday understanding; The artist uses this interplay of the known and the unknown as an inherent tension in her work.
