From: Me / To: Me, 2012-2015, direct exposure on analogue black and white photo paper, unique pieces, 13 x 8 cm

For the work From: Me / To: Me I sent – by myself to me – pinhole cameras that documented their “journey”, which lasted up to 3 days. 9 x 13 cm small black and white photo paper were sent individually per package and remind with their size of postcards. The travel experiences of the cameras, these abstract time archives, were documented by them on their way: Vibrations, changed light situations, during the door-to-door transport, were photographed on the inserted photo paper. The idea of uncontrollabilityandtheartisticdocumentationofanelapsed time is taken to extremes in this project. On her “journey”, the camera takes up unknown territory for me. The camera works almost self-suf cient and acts as a test instrument. The resulting photographs are an attempt to artistically visualize a space-time continuum – that is, the physical idea of merging two categories separated in human perception. The results reveal the path between two moments in my own story, permeated by memories and feelings of belonging and nostalgia. This creates a delicate tension between intimacy and alienation, between the scenario and the actual path.
